Gunn Vottestad (b. 1949 / Norway), works as a painter and graphic artist. She made her debut as an artist in 1997, after studying drawing and painting for 5 years, including as a student at Hans Köhler and at Oslo Drawing and Painting School.
Vottestad is from Myre in Vesterålen and her motifs are characteristic northern Norwegian houses, fishing villages or churches. Growing up in the north is probably an important backdrop, but emphasizes that she probably wouldn't have painted these houses if she had still lived in the north. It's all about longing.
