Lise Birkeland (b. 1965 / Flekkefjord, Norway), lives and works in Stavanger where she has her own workshop. She works with both sculptures and graphics.
Within graphics, she primarily works with gravure prints such as monotopy. Monotopia means that the subject is directly applied to the copper plate, which makes the prints over a series different.
Etchings and cold needles are printed by hand in their own workshop in wetted gravure paper - which is almost a pure cotton paper. She also prints lithos, but then she leases herself in lithographic workshops with professionals in that technique. Finally, she hand-colors the prints with watercolor paint.
