Olaf Storø (b. 1953 / Levanger, Norway), is best known for its powerful winter mountain motifs. With pure, clear colors, he depicts the mountains in the winter sun or against a blue-black sky with northern lights and snowflakes around the peaks. And like little ants, human beings climb to the challenge the top represents. Always followed by a little encouragement or explanation in the title of the image, so that text and image gradually mean just as much in the expression.
Olaf Storø has been fascinated by Svalbard's light and colors for many years. Blue is the color he uses most in his pictures, and it is also the color that is perhaps most fascinating by the light on Svalbard.
